Zululand Business has joined forces with a leading financial
institute to assist and support emerging businesses.
The service, aimed at increasing awareness of financial products
for Small, Medium and Micro enterprises (SMME) is a partnership
between the Zululand Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ZCCI) and
ABSA Bank.
The helpdesk will also serve as an advisory centre, offering
assistance with legal, tax and business development services.
The initiative is part of ABSA’s expansion project in reaching
disadvantaged communities, having taken the lead and moving away
from traditional banking to ensure sustainable businesses. In
commemorating the MOU signed between the Chamber and ABSA,
Regional Manager for SMME Specialist Sales, Shan Moodley said
‘We at ABSA have taken note that the chambers of commerce play
an important role in guiding SMME’s and hence we have embarked
on unique endeavours jointly with various Chambers to provide a
service that would assist in ensuring SMME business success”.
“It is with this objective, the decision was made to second a
staff member, to the ZCCI offices, with the necessary expertise
to work closely with the SMME’s in providing the necessary tools
to ensure their success. Similar links have been successfully
established and maintained with the Durban, Ladysmith and
Pietermaritzburg Chambers”.
